Frequently asked questions

What are experiments and protocols?
An experiment reflects a single project, process, or workflow that you collaborate on with your team. Each experiment can contain multiple protocols, which represent the written design for your experiments. You’re free to create as many experiments and protocols as you’d like on any of our plans.
What are virtual laboratory freezers?
Virtual laboratory freezers correspond to the actual freezers kept in your laboratory. They are broken down further by shelves, racks, and boxes. While we don’t limit the number of experiments and protocols you can create, we do limit the amount of virtual freezers you can have.
What is revision and snapshot history?
Genemod provides an easy way to go back in time with revision and snapshot history. View a living history of all the changes that have been made to any reagent and jump back in time and restore it to its previous state. We provide a limited history for Free plans, with extended histories for our premium plans. When you upgrade and extend your history, you’ll see the history that was previously limited by your old plan’s limits.
Are you able to help me import my current data?
Yes, we can help you with that and it doesn’t matter the format! Sending in excel spreadsheets will be the easiest way, but if your data is organized in a different way contact us and then a team member will reach out to assist you.
What are basic permissions?
By default, every function is collaborative, meaning that every collaborator on the platform can see and use that function. Basic permissions is a feature that allows a collaborator with Admin permissions to create functions that only they can configure, and that don’t allow the other collaborators’ to edit.
Are there discounts for education and non-profit?
Yes, we have special plans for non-profit and education organizations. For more information, click on the link to fill out an application and we will get back to you within 10 business days.
What happens when I hit my freezer limits?
For our Free and Plus plan, once you reach your freezer limits you must upgrade to the next plan. Once you reach the Enterprise plan, our team will work with you to determine the freezer limit that is best fit for your organization.
What happens when I hit my user limits?
If you reach our user limits for our Free plan, you must upgrade to a paid plan. For Plus and Enterprise plans if you hit our user limits you can add on users for an additional charge per month. We’ll let you know about the overage, and give you a grace period to find a plan that fits your needs!
What are my payment options?
All payments are made via credit card for Plus workspaces. For Enterprise accounts, we can issue an annual invoice with payment via PO and/or ACH, wire, or check. Please contact us for more information.
